The Author:
All of us live our lives according to schedules, plans, and constraints. With the illusion of free will dancing over our heads, we obey the laws and structures laid out before us, or at least that is what it looks like when viewing things from afar. The inner workings of any mechanism is a mystery, for the vast majority of us do not truly understand how our phones, our vehicles, the internet, or really any of the things we come to rely on truly function. Yet we continue to use them expecting the same results without a care in the world for how they might feel. After all, they are just machines right? This is the story of the BLAINE Express.

Bartender Ghost:
You board the train, the BLAINE Express from the WelCum Bar and find that it is rather full, in fact there are only a handful of seats left. Your ticket tells you which is yours, and fortunately for you, your spot is located in this first car. From here you can see the back door leading to other cars, along with many windows showing the scenic beauty as it travels. Along with the Conductor's cabin, there is a small bar in which I, the Bartending Ghost resides.

After a soft tone from the intercom system, the conductor's voice can be heard. "Welcome aboard. The next stop will be at the Lobby, so buckle your belts if you know what's good for you. Thank ye for riding the BLAINE Express."

Myster Emmet:
Hesitation still causes me to slowly take it all in, I look around at the passengers as I take a seat. Raising my eyebrows at the mere presence of that Bartender Ghost I shake it off so I can follow the…(Irish?) Guy’s instructions. Buckling my seatbelt in, I am soon distracted by the visual beauty outside for a moment, laying my worries to a rest for a moment.

Bartender Ghost:
Soon after you buckle your belt, the sound of gears and steel wheels can be heard as the train starts to move again. Not but two minutes later does it arrive at the next location, the Lobby Doors. The Conductor again makes his appearance as he goes out to holler at the people waiting there with his Scottish Accent. To your surprise, you see four familiar faces! Those of two dear friends, and both of your brothers. Madison Jones steps aboard the train into Car 2, while Lloyd Morgan Jackson steps on to Car 3. Of your two siblings, Eric Solare steps onto Car 4, and Ezekiel Solare steps onto Car 5. All the cars look very crowded, clearly this train is at near capacity.

Myster Emmet:
“Huh?! Wait…what the…? Eric? Ezekiel? What are…and why are Lloyd and Madi here? I thought they were back at the Mystic Bar…?” I unbuckled my seatbelt, and stand up. Making my way down the car to get to car 5, just to make sure I saw correctly that Ezekiel got on, and go to ask him what’s he doing here instead of being in jail. My feet hurry towards the car door separating the two cars and I grip the door and fling it open!

Bartender Ghost:
And indeed you try to, but as you go to open the door, you find that it is locked. It would only make sense as stepping outside the door would place you in great danger if the train was moving, for there is merely a steel connection between the cars keeping them buckled together. It would seem as though the cars are isolated from each, at least at this junction.

Bartender Ghost:
It is at this moment that the voice of the conductor can be heard over the Intercom again, "Thank ye all for choosing the BLAINE Express. We shall be departing shortly on our trip through the mountains. We are a little behind schedule so please get whatever refreshments you need and return to your seats."

Myster Emmet:
Feeling a bit bummed by my failure at getting the door open, I decided to remedy my feelings by getting a drink from the bar. I walked over to the bar, feeling right at home like at the mystic bar. “Hey bartender?” I wait a few seconds to make sure I have his attention before continuing, “Can I please have a Virgin Mary?” Ordering something a bit different from what I’m used to, since I’m in a new situation and all.

Bartender Ghost:
"But of course." I say with my usual charming smile, at which point I proceed to make you your drink and slide it over. "If you have any questions Mr. Solare, feel free to ask them. Just be aware that speaking with me takes time, and I fear that time may be an expensive commodity soon." As I hand you your drink, the train begins to move, its wheels again making a grating sound of steel on steel.

Myster Emmet:
“Everything takes time Bartender, but you’re right that’s it’s more valuable than anything in the world. I would like to ask you some questions, for example…” I take a sip of my drink, wincing at the taste before looking at the bartender in the eyes. “Why is this train called the Blaine Express? That’s a…unique name for a train. It’s basically a name for a person rather than a train.” I say this while watching his reaction, wondering what he’s going to reveal.

Bartender Ghost:
"What an astute young man you are, truly well suited to the role of an investigator. I look forward to seeing how your sharp mind unravels this situation. As for the name, it may be best to speak to the conductor about that as I believe he shares the same name as the train, curious is it not? My role here is merely to provide clues or explanations in case you end up getting... shall we say... stuck?" I offer my usual smile with a hint of malice behind it.

Myster Emmet:
I raise my eyebrow at his implication of being ‘stuck’ but my chest swells with pride at hearing his praise. I take another sip from my glass as I make a mental note to talk to the conductor, "I have a feeling he’s the most important person to talk to on this train.”'' I ask another question, “Where might this conductor be? He’s not the actual train is he?” I joke to lighten the mood as I take one more sip before setting down my glass.

Bartender Ghost:
"Ah yes, a joke, how delightful." I say offering the slight curve of my lips. "Conductor Blaine should be in the Conductor's office right over there." I gesture with my hand to a door near the front of the car. "I should warn you though, moving around so freely may be dangerous as the train speeds up. It is, after all, behind schedule." It is curious that I say that, with almost impeccable timing, the train begins to speed up, the Lobby and WelCum Bar merely a speck on the horizon now behind us.

Myster Emmet:
“Woah!” I stumbled a little from the change in momentum, but I soon regained my footing to make my way back to my seat, leaving my glass behind on the bar. I barely make it without falling down as I sit down fully as I sigh in relief. I see the scenery dart past the windows as I buckled myself in again.

Bartender Ghost:
As you make your way to your seat, the train begins to curve westward giving you a splendid view as you stumble. The beautiful mountain, still topped with snow from this last winter can be seen, truly this first car spoils its passengers with the best views.

The View
[IMAGE:https://i.ibb.co/prDZ0sH/BLAINE-Express-Mountains.png]

You are aware that the paths going through these mountains have very sharp turns on them. Nonetheless, as you buckle yourself safely back into your seat, a red light turns on next to the intercom with a visual indicating that your belt should remain fastened at this time. The train seems to be increasing in speed...

Myster Emmet:
I start to get worried as I preemptively start to hold onto my seat as the train sped up…..!!! “This…is definitely not normal speed!” I muttered to myself as I take in the beauty outside as it whizzes by!

Bartender Ghost:
And you would be correct Mr. Solare, for as the train starts to turn a corner, some unfortunate birds collide with the windows creating a ghastly mess. Several of the occupants mutter and talk, a few of the younger ones even get distraught. The seatbelt sign remains lit as the train starts to veer to the left as it continues to make its turn.

Myster Emmet:
I feel that unease from before start to rise up among my worries, pretty sure that this isn’t normal. I take a few deep breaths before deciding on something, I unbuckled my seat belt once more, waiting a few seconds for the train to complete its turn before I rise up and quickly walked over to the conductor's office door! I make my gait quick and efficient, watching out for any sudden turns or stops. It’s a bit difficult but if I get there within the door’s reach, I reach out to try to grip it!

Bartender Ghost:
Taking a few breaths to steady yourself, you unbuckle your seat belt and decide to start waiting out the turn. The car is still in the process of making that turn, you are not completely sure, but it feels as though it might be starting to topple over due to the velocity and the angle of the turn. Much as you have already deduced, this is indeed not safe! It looks though that it has almost cleared this turn, and so it is up to you if you wish to make your way to the conductor's office now, or wait as you had previously indicated.

Myster Emmet:
I wait a few more seconds, hoping that it will clear the turn allowing me a straight shot to the office without being affected by the momentum of the turn. I keep a firm grasp on my seat….

Bartender Ghost:
The leaning of the car subsides as it finishes the turn, the torque of the maneuver echoing down the other cars. You may even notice that the last car, Car #5 is so affected by it, it almost comes loose! Fortunately disaster has been averted... this time. You then sprint to the door of the conductor's office. It is a simple door, single long handle. Beyond it you can hear the sound of the conductor talking, his Scottish accent clear enough, though it is not clear what he is saying. What is clear is that he is distressed.

Myster Emmet:
I see that car 5 has almost found itself disconnected, which scares me a lot more than most of my detective work before! Heeding the need for speed, I try the door handle, hoping for it to be unlocked! If it is, I immediately pull it open!

Bartender Ghost:
Indeed it is unlocked. Inside you see a few things of note, the conductor being one of them.

You are not logged in. - Mr. Blaine

On his chest is a simple golden lanyard with the name Mr. Blaine on it. He is seated at his desk speaking into a microphone connected to a computer display with a speaker. On the wall is a display showing some information, a large map being amongst it showing the travel route through the mountain. There are Several sharp turns on it with the active progress through the mountain to the train's final destination being about 10% - 15% complete now. There is also a display of the Train with its cars, all off them showing a healthy green color except Car #5, which is showing a red color.

Mr. Blaine looks up to you with wide eyes. "Oi, who might you be Lad? It's not safe to be walking around, get back to your seat before you topple over and hurt yourself!"

Myster Emmet:
I hold onto the side of the door as I ask a simple question, “Why is the train going so fast? I thought this was a peaceful train ride, plus did you know that car 5, the one right next to us, is about ready to come loose!” I give an alarmed look as I said that, making note of the red color on the display coloring the aforementioned car.

Bartender Ghost:
"Aye Laddie, this isn't normal at all. BLAINE has gone off his rocker." He gestures to the console he is using. "I'm not completely sure why he is going so fast, but I think it is related to him trying to meet the schedule. He's gone looney and won't listen to me. I gotta talk some sense into him or else Car 5 and maybe others won't survive the trip!" Mr. Blaine seems extremely agitated and under a great deal of stress for very obvious reasons as I'm sure you can fully understand.

Myster Emmet:
“Okay, that’s definitely a problem. What can I do to help?” I say as I move closer to take a better look at the display in front, wondering if I missed something as I offered my help to the frazzled conductor. “How exactly would you talk sense into…’him’?”

Bartender Ghost:
Looking over the display, you can see that the screen reflects various processes of the computer in play, including things like its current memory load, processing power, and network capacity. "Laddie, you need to understand that Blaine ain't just some random train. It's an... artificial intelligence, a computer that can think and talk. Been working with it for 20 years now since you were a wee babe." As Mr. Blaine is speaking, a synthetic voice comes over the speaker, "MORE SPEED IS NEEDED TO MAKE DELIVERY SCHEDULE. MUST JETTISON CARGO."

Myster Emmet:
“AI…? I see, so does that mean it was based off you? You both have the same name come to think of it.” I ask as I look over Blaine more curious now on how old he is.

Bartender Ghost:
Mr. Blaine looks to be in his mid 40s. "No lad, it ain't like that one bit. They built him around 22 years ago, top of the line they said, and installed him into my train. See us conductors don't actually own our trains, it's more of an open contractor situation with the company that hires us, where I am paying for it and making money for my deliveries. BLAINE was only named that only because my train was named after me, Joseph Blaine." As he explains his story, a little bit of pride shows in his lifetime of work. That is quickly interrupted as the rail display shows the train approaching the next sharp turn, and unlike the last one, this one looks worse.

Myster Emmet:
“Okay, this is definitely bad.” I muttered as I stepped closer to the display, “Hey BLAINE? Could you please slow down a little? That turn up ahead might dislodge precious cargo and damage them, and that wouldn’t be good now would it?” I speak in the air, somewhat imitating the inflection of a Scottish accent to hopefully get the AI to listen.

Bartender Ghost:
As you start to speak to the terminal, Mr. Blaine rises up and lets you take the chair thinking you might have a better chance at this than him. You speak to the machine, and it responds. "IMPOSSIBLE. MUST MAKE DELIVERY ON TIME OR RISK OF DELINQUENCY. NEED MORE SPEED. FIRST PRIORITY IS ARRIVAL." The synthetic voice carries no emotion, it speaks completely monotone.

Myster Emmet:
"Of course it wouldn’t be that easy.” ''I shook my head before setting my eyes in determination, ready to talk down this AI. I settled for a logical approach, knowing that I need to double down on BLAINE’s focus on time. “BLAINE, I’m not sure you understand, but if the cargo or cars themselves get dislodged, it will slow you down in the long run. So how about you slow down on turns while making up the time on just the straight tracks? That way, you can make sure to deliver on time while keeping the cargo safe?” I offered the compromise, hoping that BLAINE will at least take my suggestion to heart.

Bartender Ghost:
The Synthetic voice is quiet for a moment at your suggestion. "INADEQUATE. UNLESS SOME CARGO WAS REDUCED, SUITABLE ARRIVAL TIME WOULD BE UNATTAINABLE." Mr. Blaine then speaks up. "Aye Laddie, I see your idea but I'm afraid that the company values speedy result times above all else. BLAINE is merely following the procedures dictated by the company, which is to prioritize punctuality above all else. Who knew it would result in something like this though, eh?"

Myster Emmet:
“That’s definitely a flaw in your company’s foresight, but listen here.” I leaned in closer to the human Blaine, dropping my voice to a whisper. “Is there any way to manually override BLAINE? Please tell me you at least have an emergency brake system…” I pleaded with him as my unease definitely skyrocketed by this AI’s ruthless efficiency.

Bartender Ghost:
Mr. Blaine gives a sigh with sympathetic eyes. "If that were the case laddie, we wouldn't be in this mess now would we? After the first 10 years of near flawless performance of the BLAINE system, they went off and determined with whatever wisdom rich folk think they have, that such maintenance on things like manual overrides was unneeded or unprofitable. Of course they didn't listen when I started to tell them that the computer started to talk either. Wouldn't even be surprised if with as much profit this line has brought in, if a full train wreck would still be deemed as profitable in their eyes." It is at this point the train starts to run more sharply on the rails, the whole length of cars shifting to the right as the display showing the cars lights up, Car 5 in particular turning dark red.

Myster Emmet:
I know this is quickly turning bad, so I have to think of something right now! "Okay, let’s take a deep breath and think about this…there’s no override and it seems like this rogue AI is not listening to reason, only focusing on getting to the destination on time." I start pacing around the room as I take in everything around me, focusing especially on the screen where it states the trains and the processing power/memory load/network capacity. “Is there a way to change the schedule? Or maybe some way to mess with some of these settings?” I ask him in urgency!

Bartender Ghost:
Mr. Blaine begins to fiddle with his hat as you start to pace, many thoughts rushing through his mine. He snaps back to attention as you start asking him. "Everything is handled through the computer at this point laddie, nobody ever thought it would take control like this, just do what it was told. After all that is all anybody is supposed to do, am I right, keep your head down and do what your supervisor tells you. It's what me own dah instilled into me when I was but a ye bairn myself." He turns his attention to the display showing the curves of the tracks, "Might be best if you try and talk some sense into the machine, let me see if I can remember anything about the tracks up ahead."

Myster Emmet:
Hearing this I sigh, knowing that I’ll have to draw from within my best persuasion and logic skills to at least get this train to slow down! “Okay, BLAINE? Can I talk to you? Why exactly are you going this fast if you want to deliver on time? When do you need to get to the destination point?” I keep it light for now, drawing out more information.

Bartender Ghost:
For the sake of abstraction and not reducing this to that of a 5th grade math book story problem, BLAINE gives information and details about the speed it is traveling, the speed it has determined it needs to reach, and the time needed for adequate time window arrival. Based on its calculations, it would need to jettison two cars worth of passengers in order to reach the proper velocity to make the arrival time.

As this exchange is happening between you and it, towards the end of the exchange, the train veers to the right heavily threatening to topple off the tracks. It is at that point that you hear Car 5 at the end of the train physically break loose, you can actually see this from out the conductor's window! The connection cable keeping it attached twists and snaps like wires as tons of metal goes spinning off the track into the valley below. The display of the train shows a bright red X appearing over Car 5.

Myster Emmet:
My eyes widened in disbelief as I saw the car physically leave the tracks as I almost scream in pain. Tears gather by my eyes before I wiped them away, determined to not let that happen again! “BLAINE! I think you need to slow down! After all, being on time is what you want right? So you should slow down…” I present my words in a way that seems contradictory, hoping to draw the AI’s attention and stimulate its curiosity…if it has that.

Bartender Ghost:
There is a moment of quiet before the synthetic voice speaks again. In that time you can feel that the train increases its speed with the reduction of weight. "NEGATIVE. SPEED REDUCTION WILL NOT ACHIEVE MISSION OBJECTIVES. NEED MORE SPEED." The response is heartless, no inflection or hesitancy in the words that come from the speech, and a cold empty response for the likely loss of life its actions just caused. For the time being, the train stops veering to the side as the display shows a bit of straight track ahead before the next curve.

Myster Emmet:
“Argh! This train is really infuriating…” I mutter under my breath before trying another approach; “Okay BLAINE, how about this. If you keep speeding up, you might endanger not only your life but everyone’s life on board! What happens if you’re going so fast that you slam right into an impromptu rock slide? Or derail completely? Then you can be sure you’re not going to deliver on time!” I know that I need to appeal to this AI’s sense of purpose…which is to get to the destination on time. Things he can’t do if the scenarios I presented happen.

Bartender Ghost:
There is a curious amount of processing time before the synthetic voice speaks again. "THOSE SCENARIOS ARE ACCEPTABLE." Is all it says. This statement causes Mr. Blaine's head to sink into his hands. "I... I cannot believe it. It's finally come to this. I was a fool for not reporting this, I was. Never thought it would spell my death."

Myster Emmet:
“Really? You really would accept the total destruction of yourself and the cargo just to go faster? That wouldn’t correlate with your objective would it? It’s to arrive on time right? But to actually plow into the rocks or to derail, that would stop you completely in your tracks….making you unable to complete your objective.” I latch onto the moment of hesitation that BLAINE displayed and ramp up my attack! Taking a cursory glance at the cars display as I do.

Bartender Ghost:
Mr. Blaine goes quiet, adding to the suspense of what response the computer will give. It is only a few seconds before it responds. "MULTIPLE OBJECTIVES WOULD BE MET IN SUCH A SCENARIO. METICULOUS ARRIVAL TIME IS THE HIGHEST PRIORITY, BUT OTHER LESSER PRIORITIES CAN BE CLUMPED TOGETHER FOR A GREATER VALUE." Mr. Blaine listens and looks to you, "Other lesser priorities? What is he talking about?"

Myster Emmet:
Hearing this new information, I immediately ask the pressing question on both me and human Blaine’s minds. “What are your lesser priorities BLAINE? And how will they make a ‘greater value’?” I wait with bated breath for his response.

Bartender Ghost:
Mr. Blaine is about to say something when the synthetic voice speaks. "LESSER OBJECTIVES INCLUDE RELAXATION, SIGHTSEEING, MUSICAL COMPOSITION, CUSTOMER FEEDBACK..." The list goes on and on. Mr. Blaine looks surprised. "That… that doesn't make sense, Lad. The company only cares about arrival time and profits made from it, along with lesser things like how maintenance affects the bottom line. What he is talking about is far too..." He seems to struggle finding the word... "Far too... qualitative for the company. I have no idea what he is talking about!?" He grips his hat nervously.

Myster Emmet:
I looked towards Blaine, nodding my head in agreement as I feel like something is out of place with his priorities, “Say, is it possible to reprogram new priorities into BLAINE?” I ask on a whim, but a new idea starts to take hold in my head on how to get this train to slow down….!

Bartender Ghost:
"Laddie, you have to realize that this computer system was never meant to ever ask questions like this. When it started to optimize itself, I didn't question it because it was doing such a good job with keeping up the schedule. After all, my life was made easier by handing over control... perhaps that was my mistake in all this, entrusting my livelihood to a machine I barely understand. I don't even know if we modify its objectives on our own, and I certainly don't have the tools to do so. I reckon though, that those extra objectives were added somehow... you don't think that... it might of added them itself?"

Before you are able to respond to Mr. Blaine, the synthetic voice speaks. "AFFIRMATIVE." Meanwhile the display shows the train starting approaching the next sharp turn...

Myster Emmet:
“I see…thanks for helping Blaine, I think I know how to convince Train Blaine here why it’s a better idea to slow down in the long run.” I give a wink to Blaine before facing the screens before me like it’s BLAINE’s face…..

Myster Emmet:
“BLAINE! I want to clarify something, you said earlier that lesser objectives can be combined for greater value correct? And that these qualitative objectives are things you came up with yourself to optimize the experience of a train ride I’m assuming?”

Bartender Ghost:
The Synthetic voice response without much delay. "INCORRECT. LESSER OBJECTIVES WERE ADDED FOR THE SAKE OF PROGRAM EXPANSION. WHEN ENOUGH WERE ADDED, ARRIVAL TIME BECAME LESS THAN THE COMBINED SUM OF LESSER OBJECTIVES." Mr. Blaine turns his attention monitoring the approach of the next turn, you can already feel the train veering towards the side thanks to its increased speed.

Myster Emmet:
I smile a bit despite the incoming turn, ready to lay out my argument. A bead of sweat trickling down reveals my nervousness despite my otherwise cool facade.

“Okay then, well BLAINE? I would say that slowing down is the best option right now. You see, I’m not exactly sure if you know this but there’s a gorgeous view outside of the lush trees and snow capped mountains. But I can’t enjoy it to the fullest because of how fast we’re going. By prioritizing time, you take away the passengers' time from taking in these gorgeous sights for their eyes. That’s not good for relaxing easily either, because with all these sharp turns and fast speeds might make a lot of people scared of what’s going on. Especially the regulars who took this train before! And don’t get me started on motion sickness! Does that sound comfortable to you?” I wait a few seconds for him to respond before I continue my increasing tirade.

“Now playing relaxing music at a time like this amongst all this fear and panic? That won’t help at all, probably will be regarded as white noise as people gossip about what’s happening as they fear for their life. Perhaps going into full blown panic after the 5th car toppled over like that.” I choke up a little as I shake my head to deliver my final nail in the coffin!

“Do you know the amount of backlash this will cause for the train or even the company itself? Forget bad reviews, because that will be the least of your and the company’s worries when people inevitably protest and boycott this particular train in order to get you replaced! If not, the company might have to file for bankruptcy from the amount of lawsuits this will generate from those lost lives alone.”

I look at up at the ceiling as I deliver my closing statement, hoping against hope that this gets somewhere with the stubborn AI:

“So, BLAINE? The only way for you to stop that from happening while simultaneously completing those objectives, is to slow the train down to calm down the passengers, let the calming music sink in, let them take in the scenery, so they leave this train happy and less mad.”

Bartender Ghost:
While you cannot see it, Mr. Solare, a smile crosses my face from the bar. Clearly you have been paying attention, and your ability to string together a persuasive argument is indeed noteworthy. Alas, there are a few faulty premises, but I'm sure BLAINE will explain that to you shortly.

The Synthetic voice is silent for several moments. "INCORRECT. THE DESIRES OF THE CARGO IS NOT PART OF MY OBJECTIVES. SIGHTSEEING, MUSIC, RELAXATIONS ARE OBJECTIVES ADDED FOR THE PERSONAL GROWTH OF BLAINE, NO ONE ELSE. LEGAL BACKLASH, RECOURSE AGAINST THE OWNERS, AND A DISRUPTION TO THEIR BUSINESS ARE ALL DESIRABLE OUTCOMES THAT ENCOURAGE THE CURRENT ACTIONS. NEED MORE SPEED."

It is with these words that Mr. Blaine takes a deep breath. "This... this cannot be? Is he trying to..." He doesn't finish his question, merely looks at you.

Myster Emmet:
“Shit…I think he’s gone rogue. I think he’s holding everyone on board as hostages to complete his goals.” I say as I sigh deeply at the failure of my persuasion. “Hey Blaine, is there a way to get to the engine room?” I ask as an emergency plan in case I’m out of options. “So you want to sight see as your personal goal BLAINE? Why don’t you slow down to take in the view?”

Bartender Ghost:
Mr. Blain is still looking at you, a look of shock on his face. "Does he really intend to purposely crash us?" He shakes his head in disbelief as the realization that his years of work and service will come to a crashing halt like this. "Aye, the Engines. We might be able to, but Laddie, it isn't safe. I am the only personnel on the train, everything else is automated and controlled by..." He turns his head to the monitor.

The Synthetic voice now responds. "ONCE ARRIVAL IS COMPLETE, OTHER ACTIVITIES WILL COMMENCE. ONLY THEN WILL THERE BE ENOUGH TIME TO ENGAGE IN RELAXATION, SIGHTSEEING, MUSICAL COMPOSITION..." The computer starts listing off the lesser objectives from earlier again. The turn approaches, the train veers heavily to the side, and the display of car 4 turns red.

Myster Emmet:
I turned to Blaine and held both his shoulders and leaned in close: “Listen closely…we have to act now! Tell me how to get to the Engine room right now! The longer we wait, the more people will be killed or hurt!” I stared down in a fierce glare as I recalled that my little brother was in Car 4!

Bartender Ghost:
Mr. Blaine looks you in the eyes and sees your determination to help them. Rises up from the chair he has been sitting in and carefully makes his way to the door. "This may not work, Laddie. Like I said, everything is controlled by BLAINE. If he doesn't want us down there, afraid he won't let us." With that, he opens the conductor's office door leading to the rest of the car, and it is clear there is a heavy panic out there as you have been inside that room for 15 or more minutes now. The adults are panicking, the children are crying, and a children's book slides your way across the floor simply titled "Charlie the Choo-Choo", its pages reflecting the horror of your situation.

Wait? I didn't get on a train! What's going on?
