07:35 Madison_Jones: I return to the forest making my way to Lake Crystarium once more. The night sky is again beautiful, though I am more on guard this time, every little night sound spooking me. Traveling in just my cargo pants, boots, and backpack, I soon find myself at the lake after only a few mile hike. I start up the campfire there and sit next to it while resting.
07:35 Madison_Jones: You are not logged in. 07:42 Madison_Jones: You are not logged in.
07:45 Madison_Jones: Once the task is finished, feeling safer in this realm than at my own home lately... I decide I will sleep here for the night. I dry off by the fire, get dressed and head back to The Lodge knowing its magic is fortified and probably the safest place to be.
07:52 minotaur21560: *hearing the sound of rustling in the underbrush, i look up to see the dark mage coming back toward the lodge. "Hello, mage"
07:52 Madison_Jones: "General. Good to see you tonight." You can see my backpack is full.
07:53 minotaur21560: I join the mage in the lodge. "It seems your pack and mind are both full, and I know you have been having dangerous adventures of late. What brings you here?"
08:01 Madison_Jones: "Have you heard the new sof what happened at the bar last night?" I take off my backpack and find a spot in the corner to lean against sliding down to a seated position.
08:02 minotaur21560: *nods with a serious face.... "The monster... possessing Chadwick"
08:04 Madison_Jones: "Indeed. I am very concerned for my friend." I reach into my backpack and pull out a bottle of water to drink.
08:04 Madison_Jones: "General, have you heard tales of the demon Bedlam?" I gesture to the spot next to me for you to sit.
08:05 minotaur21560: I settle down beside him, putting a friendly hand on the mage's shoulder. "Yes, tall as a building they say... and he had crossed paths with Chadwick, some say, even bred him..."
08:08 Madison_Jones: "Indeed. When Bedlam appeared to me though, he was merely 7 or 8 feet tall. He used to appear to me often you know? I bring this being up because he is a power entity that must inhabit a body." I rub my arm as I talk about that last bit.
08:08 minotaur21560: "hmm and you think he might be interested in your own comely body?"
08:09 Madison_Jones: "But I wish to speak of his prison... The Bedlam Medallion."
08:10 minotaur21560: "oh yes, i have heard of that as well, though i have never seen it."
08:11 Madison_Jones: "You see, Bedlam is very powerful, and so the idea he could be contained within an object of note. He must also possess a human host. Do you see the connection I am making here to our current problem with our friend Chadwick?"
08:12 minotaur21560: But when he is contained in the object he does not have a host. Is that right?
08:14 Madison_Jones: "That is correct. He trapped like a Djinn in a Lamp. So now take your gaze and imagine something much larger and no doubt the star of some horrendous Japanese Hentai film. The Monster."
08:15 minotaur21560: ohhh, it would need a building, maybe brutalist architecture, LeCorbusier, or Adolf Loos...something midcentury that Godzilla would turn over on its side and release a cloud of toxic dust?
08:15 minotaur21560: That monster would have to be contained in something big.
08:17 Madison_Jones: I nod with most of your assessment. "The creature attacked me tonight. It didn't seem to want to kill me though, which worries me more than anything else to be honest." My fake accent starts to break as I recall the encounter.
08:19 Madison_Jones: "He explained his nature to me and his ultimate goal. It is part of the standard Yin & Yang. He claims to be a balance to life."
08:19 minotaur21560: That balance likely being death, I suppose...
08:21 Madison_Jones: I nod. "He also claims that Lord Dahvin interfered with that balance. That his actions in this land has caused life to flourish unbalanced. With that in mind, it makes me wonder that if it would be wise to even try and trap a entity like this Monster."
08:21 minotaur21560: And then there is the question of the monster's "consort"?
08:22 Madison_Jones: "His Messiah of Destruction, or something like that. He claims that she has been trapped in this land, some sort of Mist Maiden Deity I believe."
08:23 minotaur21560: There have been reports of sightings. And there was a cloud of noxious gas... i passed out not two nights ago
08:24 minotaur21560: We will need to marshal our forces. And likely also consult oracles and bears regarding strategy. It is no use to talk to gods and demigods, since they are usually inebriated.
08:25 Achlys: gasps out a noxious puff
08:25 Madison_Jones: "I can't help but to wonder given with this tentacle beast could have done to me..."
08:25 Achlys: and disappears
08:26 minotaur21560: what was that!?!
08:26 minotaur21560: *waves the cloud of green fog out of the way...
08:26 Madison_Jones: I sniff the air smelling the odor with my keen sense of smell.
08:27 Madison_Jones: I cough, also waving it away. "The timing of that seemed..." I trial off.
08:27 Garras: The bear emerges from the woods, hunkered with staff in hand, dark brown eye searing across the clearing.
08:27 minotaur21560: Yes... as if we mentioned it, and... there she was....
08:27 minotaur21560: Oh Bear! lucky you came here. Madison was beginning to... connect things
08:28 minotaur21560: Now we can be distracted by your Faulknerian syntax
08:28 Garras: Snarling softly before slowly standing upright. The staff coming to rest in the grip of his hands.
08:28 minotaur21560: ...eye of the storm and whirling winds that clear the fog... Brightening in the darkness.
08:28 Garras: "...I've been trying to catch glimpse.. This prey elusive."
08:29 minotaur21560: sparkleshine hardscrabble tinkledawn
08:29 Madison_Jones: "Good evening Garras." I rest with my arms over my knees against the wall.
08:29 minotaur21560: ...Whose rains extinguish the fires of hell and wring dry the clouds...
08:29 Madison_Jones: "I got a decent whiff of it, I might be able to track it in my other set of clothes."
08:30 minotaur21560: What other set of clothes...?
08:30 Madison_Jones: "You know, my more metallic ones."
08:30 minotaur21560: did you detect sulfur? metallic hazmat uniform or?
08:30 Madison_Jones: I roll my eyes. "I mean as Copper Wolf."
08:31 minotaur21560: ohhh right 10,000x smell sensitivity
08:32 minotaur21560: *looks up at the sky.... "seems like it might rain...and i hear the jumble of words jostling against each other in the bear's sentences that are about to tumble out onto us
08:33 minotaur21560: Madison do you think that Monster is looking for Mothra?
08:33 Madison_Jones: "I do. The source of that mist, noxious as it is, fits with what the creature told me." I sigh.
08:34 minotaur21560: What a nightmare! And to think that it is right here among us in this sylvan garden of earthly delights...
08:35 Madison_Jones: I clear my throat....
08:36 Madison_Jones: "He said something like, 'my dark mistress of the mist', and that when they combined together, they were a force of death comparable to Dahvin the Defiant."
08:36 Madison_Jones: "I feel that by herself she may not be a force of death. I wish we could speak with her..."
08:36 minotaur21560: That does sound devious and deviant. What kind of invocation do you think would be necessary to call her here?
08:37 Garras: The bear slowly unfurls a paw as he steps forward.. A small ember of verdant flame whispering in fragment, to step into the mist departed.. Illuminating reflective traces in the Mist's wake.. Refracting in incandescent swirls.. A trace, that soon departs in an instant, fading already all too soon. "...i will learn your purpose here.." Murmuring to no on in particular and then extinguishing the flame.. His hand going to his forearm as he winces, fangs bared and grit.. Sooted ash from his scorched fur drifting down in lambent spirals.
08:38 minotaur21560: The swirls that whirl and gyre... like widening rings from a stone cast onto the surface of a lake...
08:38 minotaur21560: this bear is connected somehow...
08:38 minotaur21560: Maybe the bear is an incarnation of something else
08:38 Garras: "That's unlikely" the bear growls.
08:39 Madison_Jones: "As for your question General..."
08:40 Madison_Jones: "I have no clue what we could do to lure her out. If she is a prisoner, I wonder if there is a literal container for her here in the land, or if the realm itself acts as a prison she can roam freely."
08:40 minotaur21560: She is the brightest light of day and the deepest night of madness, it is said.
08:40 minotaur21560: He is the lord of toads and frogs, who live in water and come out unto the land, and who sing together at high noon and at midnight.
08:41 minotaur21560: He is the monster of the underworld, the octopus with a thousand tentacles, he is the twistings of winged serpents...
08:41 Madison_Jones: "If she can roam freely, then creating the conditions for mist to be plentiful." My mind returns to my 9th grade earth science courses from the American Public Education System...
08:42 minotaur21560: and the chorus has naught to do but repeat the words "eldritch, eldritch, eldritch" from the bow of the cruiseship icebreaker taking them to the shores of Antarctica
08:42 Garras: Using staff to limp back down to a tree now, stabbing the earth with it and resting against a nearby tree, hand still gripped to forearm.
08:42 minotaur21560: And then the chorus adds "Dry Ice" to the litany of "eldritch", to wit what is needed is "Eldritch Dry Ice"
08:43 Madison_Jones: "That's starting to sound like a new Mountain Dew flavor, please don't give them ideas."
08:43 minotaur21560: But Madison, did you not have a carefully matched and alphabetically ordered set of glass bottles with water samples from the lake? Do you think any of them might have frozen at a temperature hundreds of degrees below absolute zero?
08:43 Garras: "It would seem she too has set her hungers upon the mana here. Drawn to its use."
08:44 minotaur21560: Yes and to Mountain Dew. Maybe also to Tab or Cherry Coke.... hmmm
08:44 minotaur21560: The Mountains of Madness Mountain Dew maybe?
08:44 Madison_Jones: "You think she is drawn to the Mana of this land? Dahvin told me that this land is ultimately rooted in the pillars of life... for perhaps all existence."
08:45 minotaur21560: Bringing them from their domain to coexist over the dominion of the earth.
08:45 Garras: "The morning mist. It is not a deathly thing. It is a concealing thing."
08:46 minotaur21560: There was a prayer once... something like... night’s quiet empty dampened, darkened, stopped,
08:46 minotaur21560: something about birds falling unconscious from the sky
08:46 Garras: "So why has it become noxious?" The bear frowns.. His stormy white brows creasing.
08:46 minotaur21560: Unbalance
08:47 minotaur21560: Black marshmallows...
08:47 minotaur21560: Disaster
08:47 Madison_Jones: "The imbalance though is of there being so much life..."
08:47 minotaur21560: Hellish Horse Popcorn
08:47 minotaur21560: … and thorns of roses
08:47 Madison_Jones: "You think that Argoniya is the solution to this?"
08:48 Madison_Jones: "I mean, Lord Argoniya of the Underworld, or whatever is left of it."
08:48 minotaur21560: Maybe if we pour a libation of Tab, the Horse would come
08:48 minotaur21560: that the shades of the dead would taste and know themselves
08:50 Madison_Jones: "Nekuia...
08:51 minotaur21560: to pour on the dry ground, wine that attracts the spirits of the dead
08:51 minotaur21560: the spirits of brides, and unwedded youths, and toil-worn old men, and tender maidens with hearts yet new to sorrow, and many, too, that had been wounded with bronze-tipped spears, men slain in fight, wearing their blood-stained armor.
08:51 Garras: Scratching jaw. "To think that the mist might have connection with the dead. It's plausible."
08:52 minotaur21560: *looks up... notices fingers of fog whirling by
08:52 Madison_Jones: I look up as well.
08:53 minotaur21560: the feeling of the short hairs standing up on my neck...
08:53 minotaur21560: and the antarctic chorus singing "eldritch, eldritch..."
08:54 Madison_Jones: I continue to think about the connection of the dead to the mist, the biggest connection coming to mind is that of a game I played when I was younger... Final Fantasy 9. That seems unlikely to be the connection here.
08:55 Madison_Jones: "What would make the mist go foul. If there is too much life causing a imbalance..."
08:55 Achlys: You are not logged in.
08:55 minotaur21560: *coughs, sputters
08:56 Garras: *growling softly, hackles rising, lurching. Hacking.
08:56 Madison_Jones: I hold my breath a best I can, bringing my hoodie from my backpack up to my noes and mouth.
08:56 Garras: Trying to conjure flame and failing. Ice in veins.
08:57 minotaur21560: Then I called to my comrades and bade them flay and burn the sheep that lay there slain with the pitiless bronze, and to make prayer to the gods, to mighty Hades and dread Persephone.
08:57 Madison_Jones: I snap my fingers, and amber flame appearing over my thumb. I hold it towards Garras if he needs it.
08:57 Achlys: Ha-a-a-a-a-a-a
08:58 Achlys: FWOMP the fog ignites...
08:58 Madison_Jones: "That might have been bad idea...." I quickly extinguish my flame.
08:59 Achlys: the forest burns and where is Smokey the Bear when we need him???
08:59 Achlys: Bahahahahahaha
09:00 minotaur21560: *uses a blanket to stamp out a flame that leapt onto the lodge porch
09:00 Madison_Jones: I check on Garras...
09:00 minotaur21560: I look over
09:00 minotaur21560: hmmm
09:00 minotaur21560: again... a strange connection
09:00 minotaur21560: between bear... and fog
09:00 Madison_Jones: "Indeed..."
09:01 minotaur21560: the thundering cloud, the whirling winds, the fog...
09:02 Madison_Jones: I seem caught in thought.
09:02 minotaur21560: Anyway it is clear that strange things are afoot. What do you think we should do?
09:02 Madison_Jones: "That mist or fog didn't seem very friendly. Perhaps my thoughts about her being more neutral were off..."
09:03 Garras: *gasping inhale having gone unconscious, eye red and paw clutching chest*
09:03 minotaur21560: Bear! *quickly administers basic first age, thumping the bear's chest
09:03 Madison_Jones: I return to checking on Garras, pulling his head up to help breath.
09:04 minotaur21560: first aid... hmmm
09:05 Garras: Breathing shallow, mouth agape.. Ragged a moment more before static electricity flickers in a sharp sting where madison touches, thrusting back against the tree, huddling up as if he were a cub.
09:07 Garras: "...I don't know what to do." The words coming out at first in subtle whisper before repeating himself as his claws continue to clutch his chest, eye downturned.
09:07 Madison_Jones: I retrieve one of the bottle of water I brought with me, offering it to Garras.
09:07 Madison_Jones: "Here, perhaps some water will help."
09:10 Garras: "Water won't help a damn thing!" The bear suddenly snarls, snapping his bared fangs at Madison, his weathered eye threatening to fracture, his voice uncharacteristically sharp. "I can't talk with it. Reason with it. And it can steal my breath and.. And.. And.." Words trailing off as he shudders. "...It's already won. Maybe not the war but it will leave destruction in its wake. What it wants, it will take. And Im powerless to stop it."
09:11 minotaur21560: This... is bad. The Bear so often, if not sanguine at least stoic, but now, this... fatalism.
09:12 Garras: Drawing blood from where his clawtips have pierced his flesh in its grip. "...I don't know what to do. I dont know what to do.."
09:12 minotaur21560: There was a story: Sky was the first who ruled over the whole world. And having wedded Earth, he begat first the Hundred-handed, as they are named: Briareus, Gyes, Cottus, who were unsurpassed in size and might, each of them having a hundred hands and fifty heads.
09:13 minotaur21560: and The one with towers on his six heads and javelins in his fourteen arms is the prince of armies, the devouring Fire....
09:13 minotaur21560: A falling shower of meteors... that ignite into flame
09:13 Madison_Jones: "You want me to make fire? Won't that burn him from the inside?" I look confused.
09:16 Garras: The bear looks hollow, wearied as whatever effect the dread fog caused slowly dissipates, having lingered a while longer than the others, but eventually he's breathing a little more evenly, but the stormy look in his eye seems to linger. The bear shaken still.. Swallowing his saliva as his fingers slowly uncrook.
09:16 minotaur21560: "What did you see, bear?"
09:17 Garras: "Nothing. Its the same as when i sleep. There is always nothing. I sleep. I wake. Seconds. Was.. How long as I even out for? *eye frantically seeking the sun or moon for orientation.*
09:17 minotaur21560: "not long, in this timezone, Lord Bear."
09:18 minotaur21560: "Was it Blankness? Sheer absence? Lightless?"
09:18 Garras: The bear just puts his face into his hands.
09:18 minotaur21560: Like noon that disperses cotton wool clouds ?
09:19 Madison_Jones: "I'm not sure what to do here..."
09:20 minotaur21560: Of course, noon, which confesses with my lips the moment of blasphemy, noon which muffles my words and traps my screams...
09:20 Garras: The bear shudders, silently sobbing, wet tears dripping down his snout*
09:20 minotaur21560: Noon, almond of night and tongue between my pepper fangs?
09:21 minotaur21560: *reaches for the Bear, trying to comfort him, but sense and nonsense have traded places.
09:23 Garras: The bear flinches at the touch and then seems to stop shuddering. "...it'll be okay..." He mumbles, despite the rubble of confidence that lays shattered in his tone. "...it'll be okay. Right Madison..?" Looking up at Madison, eye haunted with despair, eye red, ghoulish.
09:23 minotaur21560: I look intently at Madison... "Pitiless lord, sweetly i whistle, I whistle sweetly, sweetly like the glass of catastrophe..."
09:24 minotaur21560: *looks up.... suddenly, the prospect of light and hope...
09:26 Madison_Jones: "I hope he will be okay." I pat Garras. "We need a way to neutralize the gas.
09:26 minotaur21560: Pages fall as from far... Pages of hope and stars
09:26 minotaur21560: like blowing leaves
09:27 Madison_Jones: "Fire can burn it, but as we saw, it will ignite the forest."
09:27 Jake_English: There is a wretched stink in the air...
09:27 Garras: Staring sullenly but then dropping gaze again.. Staring at the ground.
09:27 Madison_Jones: I nod to Jake as he comes into the Lodge.
09:29 Madison_Jones: "Even if we neutralize the gas, I'm not sure how that really helps us with finding this person. I'm honestly not really even sure finding her will do unless plan to release her."
09:29 minotaur21560: There is endless falling.... falling into the night
09:30 Madison_Jones: "Releasing her seems like a bad thing overall because then her and The Monster will just start killing things again? Oh, and she doesn't seem to much in a talkative mood either."
09:31 Jake_English: Oh. Shes made an appearance? The one that lugubrious prick has been trying to get at?
09:31 Madison_Jones: She flooded the area with some gas a bit ago, it's cleared out I think now.
09:31 minotaur21560: And emitted fog, the smell sweet like a rain of ash empearled with tiny flames
09:31 minotaur21560: And suddenly I started talking about noon...
09:32 Jake_English: That explains the whiff of a vile taint lingering in the air. One wonders whether i ought call john in to deal with that situation...
09:32 minotaur21560: Who's that, Jakey?
09:33 Madison_Jones: "I do not have control over the wind..."
09:33 Jake_English: Another one of my colleagues. Things tend to get... a little breezier than usual when he decides to get serious.
09:34 minotaur21560: Wind... that the greeks believed lived in caves.
09:34 minotaur21560: your colleague can call them at will?
09:34 Garras: The bear is slowly gathering up the broken pieces of himself, still looking hopeless. "...a way to deal with that fog. That's. Yeah. A good idea.." But hardly sounding confident
09:35 Madison_Jones: "We could get Gas Masks, but that doesn't really seem to fit here. Even wet cloth coverings would work to a degree, but I'm not sure how that helps us talk with this person."
09:36 Jake_English: Well maze keeper. Considering his power as Heir of Breath is literally nicknamed “the windy thing” id say yeah, he can. He overdoes it sometimes though...
09:36 Jake_English: And by overdoes it i mean the man can literally clear the skies of clouds and extinguish raging wildfires with cyclone-force gales that might span whole countries in size.
09:36 minotaur21560: "I think wind will figure well in our defense. " *looks at the bear "And another strategy is to simulate mental disability..."
09:37 Garras: The bear snorts softly. "...just need a plan."
09:38 Jake_English: *Quietly ambles over to the great bear to offer bearhugs if permitted.*
09:42 Garras: *looks up at jake, looking as if he's held together with nothing but the thinnest threads of spiderweb and shakily opens his arms before engulfing the human in his grip, heaving as if about to sob but never quite getting that far and exhaling consciously, holding onto anything here where nothing else makes sense, and clutches Jake, burying his muzzle against his neck as his blunted claws grip the man's back before quietly whispering Thank you, the shudders and tremors finally leaving him.. His heart thumping heavily against Jake's chest.
09:43 minotaur21560: *The General sits down at a table, thoughtful, mostly naked in his uniform and helmet. He considers options, strategies. The possible need for oracular assistance. The possibility of a seance, ouija board session, tarot cards... That these four players could each sit at a table as if at cards, and write on a slip of paper, an indefinite article, an adjective. The sense of tragedy, palpable, and the shift in the ground, as the bear, formerly a stalwart pillar, now uncertain...
09:44 minotaur21560: The sheets folded to conceal the words, and passed to the next player. And if the wind enters, they are scrambled like the leaves of the oracle in Cumaea.
09:46 minotaur21560: What is absence? Calm limpid water, a moving mirror...
09:48 Jake_English: *Silence from him except for the quiet shift of a man moving to embrace the bear, carding a hand through his fur, rubbing his shoulders, his back, nodding silently as he holds the other close. Hes been there himself, gone through his own interior crisis ten years prior (and perhaps a few smaller ones since then)... He says nothing to the bear, only offers him someone to lean on, someone to hold on to. Though hope is frail, its hard to kill...*
09:48 minotaur21560: (That is the secret)
09:50 Madison_Jones: "Is this even a problem we can solve right now?" I ask openly.
09:51 Argoniya: Slowly appears in the middle of the woods as a small ball of dark fog, floating its way to the firepit before materializing into the Horse Lord again!
09:52 Madison_Jones: The light of The Lodge flickers as our group continues to interact, hopefully tipping the Lord of the Underworld off.
09:52 minotaur21560: Ahhh. The Horse Lord alights
09:53 minotaur21560: Of any of us, he will understand how to deal with unreason and absurdity...
09:53 Argoniya: “Yes, I have arrived, despite the incident from yesterday... And the assault of a lion cub.”
09:53 Madison_Jones: "Welcome Argoniya."
09:53 Jake_English: Salutations argoniya. We seem to be experiencing a misting problem as of late.
09:54 Madison_Jones: I sit in the corner, knees up to my chest.
09:54 Argoniya: “Thank you, Madison. Now, what is Minotaur talking about? Unreason and absurdity, he says?”
09:54 minotaur21560: And fog...
09:54 Argoniya: “Misting problems, you say? And a fog?”
09:54 minotaur21560: But you... always have black marshmallows when they are needed
09:55 Garras: The bear's arms finally slip loose and the bear nods, having gotten a hold of himself yet more. "...it's.. Just increasingly becoming a case beyond mortal ken."
09:55 minotaur21560: *stirs the embers in the hearth and puts on another log.
09:55 minotaur21560: *it flares and sends out beams of light
09:55 Madison_Jones: I clear my throat. "With so many more of you here... I feel I should share some things that have happened."
09:55 Argoniya: “Well, yes. They are of my recipe, after all. What, found a use for them, did you?”
09:56 Argoniya: “Ooh? Please do go on...”
09:56 Madison_Jones: I move closer to the center of the group and reposition myself into a cross legged position.
09:57 Madison_Jones: "Argoniya and Jake were there for the fight yesterday with the Monster. Informed The General about it earlier, and I hope Garras knows as well."
09:57 Madison_Jones: "Chadwick is possessed by the creature, and it actively wants to get into this land to find its lover, the Mist Maiden."
09:58 Madison_Jones: "Today the Monster attacked me out in the open after I was lured away from the bar by Chadwick's phone. He forced his way inside my mind where I have a brief but painful conversation with him."
09:59 Madison_Jones: "Simply put, he views himself as a cosmic balance to life, with him and Mist Lady making up the force of death. This balance existed until Dahvin created this land."
10:00 Madison_Jones: "When that happened, the balance tilted towards life. Dahvin was able to do this by imprisoning Mist Lady here... I think. That's basically where we are."
10:01 Argoniya: “Ah, yes. Dahvin has also taken some of my powers when he defeated me... That must have tilted the balance even more towards life...”
10:01 Jake_English: The mist lady definitely seems restive if the fact that we seem to have had a toxic outgassing a short time ago seems to be any indication.
10:02 Jake_English: Wherever shes being sealed away i would hope the seal still holds because otherwise this all seems like classic signs preceding a volcanic-like event..
10:03 Madison_Jones: "The toxic nature of the mist might be a result of the imbalance we speculated. Argoniya, are you able to verify if there has been less death overall since Dahvin took control here?"
10:04 Argoniya: “Yes. I have sworn that no residents in this forest will meet their demise unless otherwise according to their fate.”
10:04 minotaur21560: Oh... Wait.... Look! *a tiny snifter glass left over from the dinner party falls to the hard dirt floor of the lodge. It shatters, and the shards of glass fly up to knee level and instead of falling, they float, and begin to turn in pinwheel patterns. The General shoots a glance at the Bear "Have we seen something like this before?"
10:04 Argoniya: “Just like I have promised to Garras too.”
10:05 minotaur21560: "it was in a saloon. A dive.... it was a Western... or maybe on the heath, and Catherine was there, in search of Heathcliff... And there were Indians... a wagon train, a robbery..."
10:06 minotaur21560: "Motionless they were, as if made of marble..."
10:06 Garras: The bear's half lidded eye staring at the shards.
10:06 minotaur21560: They whirl, carom quietly...
10:06 minotaur21560: Little witnesses of the laws of nature gone wrong
10:07 Madison_Jones: I watch the spinning shares hoping they are relevant.
10:07 minotaur21560: The effect was tragic... one thing visible... only one
10:07 Argoniya: “I-” The Whorse Lord would glare upon the shards, observing them carefully.
10:07 minotaur21560: To retain perfect freshness, keep the heart dry...
10:08 minotaur21560: They respond to the Whorse... They speak... intoning words, syllables
10:08 minotaur21560: but it is as if slowed down - an LP not at 33.3333 rpm but at 16
10:08 minotaur21560: WHORRRRRRRRRRRRR BLRRRRRR R FLLOorrrrrRRRRRr...
10:09 minotaur21560: Less Death Over All
10:09 Argoniya: “Did- DID IT JUST CALL ME A WHORE?” The Wh- Horse Lord glared upon the shards again, before looking back at the group. “Such strange things happening recently!”
10:09 minotaur21560: And suddenly the speakers sputter to life
10:09 minotaur21560: It is a collage of national anthems, played by military bands
10:10 minotaur21560: and the sound of shortwave radio, static, as the channels change
10:10 Madison_Jones: "I am somehow more confused now."
10:10 minotaur21560: The Public Announcement System crackles....
10:10 minotaur21560: "Bear... can you hear it? There's going to be... an announcement!!!"
10:11 Argoniya: “I- Is this thing now looking for Garras?” The Horse Lord would look at the shards with confused look on his face.
10:11 Garras: . . .
10:11 Asher_Ouellet: "Is Minotaur drunk?"
10:12 minotaur21560: There was a press conference...
10:12 Madison_Jones: "He's been acting this way ever since the mist hit." I sigh.
10:12 minotaur21560: It was going to announce the Bear's planet of origin. Maybe they will tell us now!
10:12 Asher_Ouellet: "Mist hit?.. Grah... Every time I go hunting, I miss something..."
10:13 Garras: Saturn.
10:13 Asher_Ouellet: Shakes head...
10:13 minotaur21560: the speakers come on...
10:13 minotaur21560:
10:13 Argoniya: “Alright, enough of this! I have some errands to run, and shall return shortly...” The Whorse Lord scoffed, before turning himself into a small fog and disappearing into thin air!
10:14 Madison_Jones: I gesture for Asher to join me so I can fill him in.
10:14 Madison_Jones: I talk for Asher for a bit. (Fill @Asher_Ouellet in on https://mars.chatfighters.com/story/56780 )
10:15 Asher_Ouellet: "whorse lord? Uhhh..." looks at Minotaur surprised, then talks with Madison, before going over to hug the General.
10:19 minotaur21560: *looks around vaguely... seem to focus again in Asher's grasp
10:20 Madison_Jones: "Maybe if you adjust his horns like a old broad cast radio."
10:20 Asher_Ouellet: "Oops..." Lets go of the Bull quickly, and catch Madison in my arms. Duck my right arm under Madison's back, the left under knees, and lift him up. "Come on... You and MInotaur... Come to my cottage today... I guess there are some things to understand. You will be safe there as well Madison..."
10:21 minotaur21560: ohhh that's a good idea... *wanders vaguely out in the direction of the trees
10:21 Asher_Ouellet: Sighs as I look and follow Minotaur behind him, and carry Madison in my arms.
10:22 minotaur21560: mumbles "Neuf, the nine..."
10:22 Madison_Jones: "Thanks Asher." Stumbles off.
10:22 JungleHunter: *drops behind @Asher_Ouellet having watched the scene. nod and put the bull man's arm over my shoulder to help him to Asher's cottage*
10:24 Jake_English: Seems like theyre in good hands.
10:25 Asher_Ouellet: Looks at JH as he helps me out, and give him a nod "Nice to see you here as well, hunter... Like Jake over there..." winks at Jake while leading them to my cottage, holding Madison close in my arms.
10:26 Madison_Jones: Mumbles and nuzzles Asher as he is helped off to the cottage.

...sits back smiling.

Drinks from his chalice of bones. Notices you watching... "What are you looking at?" Deep rumbling reply.

Darkness takes vision...

If the General is ever going to get promoted, earn another red cord, he needs to come up with a plan. That what Generals do.
