Not sure if you guys aren't aware of the possibility or just don't like using it for some reason, so just throwing it out there:
Aside from the chat, the Character list on the main site can already do exactly what you ask, and even more. (i.e: You can filter on gender, roles, age, keywords, chat status, weight, height, etc...)
And it has the added advantage that you can also immediately see the users tags, roles, and introduction, which i personally find easier to use for first impressions than scrolling through the list of tiny profiles in the chatroom. Added bonus is that you can save those as bookmarks in your browser so that you can easily recall your "search for your type of opponent in chat" for future usage.
Thanks for the tip. I've seen it, but have rarely put it into use. I prefer the "quick glance" and then click on the profile for further details. On my laptop, when I filter for just males, I get Two profiles Per screen page. If the filter downsizes the males online down to 80. That's obviously 40 screen pages to scroll through. Chances of my patience holding out until I get to TobiasK's profile at the end of the scroll are even slimmer than before. :-) Azn, you did raise a good point, a filter does exist in another area, so it seems it could be viable in the Lobby. Thank you for the input.

I have noticed that at peak periods, there can be 200 participants in the Lobby. While the amount of interest and participation is great, that volume is not conducive to scrolling and seeking online members who might be a match for one's particular interest. Would it be possible to have, as an "option", a checkbox to tick and only see Lobby participants by Gender? If a person of any gender only wanted to see profiles of one gender they could select that view. If they wanted to see all profiles, they would allow all genders to be seen/viewed. It seems a manageable way to view "whose on" and might have similar interests to your own. It would also give those at the end of the alphabet and the list of 200 profiles a better chance to be seen because speaking only for myself, when there are that many in the lobby, rarely do I scroll all the way to the bottom.
I don't know how feasible this is, but I like this idea a lot. I too am challenged getting to the bottom of the list (and I'm one of the ones down there!). I'm glad CF has proven so attractive to a more diverse demographic but for action, I am looking for male on male. I would add that I'm not advocating for the Chat itself to be sorted, just the participant list.
I agree with JJ and Tobias. If possible, a simple filter like gender and sexual orientation such as JJ describes would be really useful. I think the default should be to show more names, but users would have the option to check "show only men/ women," "show only gay/straight" etc and should only apply to the listing of names on the side.
This would make it easier to find those who in chat who are most likely to share your interest. What Puncher describes is a different and useful function, but works better for finding users to reach out to in messages. For me, it isn't that useful for quickly filtering the chat, since it requires toggling back and forth and since the list of those participating in chat is constantly changing.

Three basic examples:
All Characters in Chat
Male Characters in Chat
Female Characters in Chat
A more elaborate example:
All males in chat between 21 and 49 years old, 168 to 199 cm tall, 155 to 221 lbs heavy, and into boxing and gutpunching

Anyway, if doable, this would be a nice upgrade.
