Madison, I cannot thank you enough for this information and for taking the time to investigate this issue.

Huh... I seem to be able to delete comments on my matches, even if I wasn't the one who posted it.

As another suggestion, though, it may be a good idea to make it so that someone can't even post comments on matches that involve any characters who have the potential commenter blocked.

Yeah, ultimately it would be nice if blocking someone prevented them from communicating at all with you, not just in chat.

That would be ideal Herb. I would personally like it that if a I have gone to the effort of blocking somebody, that they don't even get to read my posted stories. This thread though is mainly asking why it is some people can't delete comments from their posted stories, it seems odd, and in this case, is leading to my friend getting bullied again by a person who is clearly ban dodging.

I'm wondering if it's because blocking a character doesn't block the root account tied to the character. Maybe that's the workaround we need. it's usually the case that the person doing the blocking wants to block the person behind the character. After all the characters are just ideas and visuals.

Though that would block all characters tied to that email address, making it obvious who's who, at the same time ... Don't do bad things that make people want to block you and that won't be an issue.

Agree with you Stan. I have been fortunate and have not had any issues with wrestlers on this site. Most have been awesome and fun to play with. But in the event you do need to block someone, the issue is the person behind the character, not the character itself. So if you block someone it should be based on the account not the character. Thanks for wisely pointing that out

No of us should be subject to or suffer bullying!

So if you block someone it should be based on the account not the character.

  • This is already the case....

Then that is as it should be. Thank you for that clarification

I think I may have figured out what is going on here, and why my friends don't have access to delete comments. I'm waiting on them to get up so I can investigate further.

Not sure the full story, but that is not something I have the capability to do either. Interesting. Ha ha, messing new here. No comments on m match so that could be part of it. He he he, ignore this newbie

Even when I edit and post matches, I have no way to delete unwanted comments made by others. I do not have the same facility that is sown on Madisons screenshot

I can not delete comments on my matches unless I am the one who did the edit. I have experienced and am experiencing the exact situation you described. A blocked character can still harass through comments on my stories and I can not delete them. If there is something you can do to fix that. I would greatly appreciate it.

This is an issue for The Tech.

Some people who have posted stories are unable to delete unwanted comments left by users. Here is a screen shot of such functionality.

To be clear, I am able to deleted comments on my posted matches just fine. I am being told that others are unable to on the matches they posts and am trying to get to the bottom of this because some of my friends are being bullied with unwanted comments from users they have individually blocked. I'm hoping The Tech can shed some light on what is happening here.

If you cannot deleted comments on your own posted matches, I would really appreciate you speaking up and providing a screen shot to show it. Thank you for your time.

If a comment can be deleted has a few factors.
If a story is made part of a federation or books some rights are lost. The same is true if the story is older than a week I think.

In this case, you can open a support case and ask to remove comments.

At the points when the support cases get too much to handle we will think about making it an option or changing the system.

But investing hours in providing a feature that can be solved by support cases is not worth the effort for our little site. I'm sorry but I hope you understand that.

Deleting comments takes me a few seconds. Implementing a robust system to work with stories that are assigned to federations takes a few hours + debugging.
So I can delete a lot of posts before I feel the 'need' to implement something :)

And let's not forget the fact that now the system is 'abused' that someone posts a comment that you don't like.
Turning it around, a story owner can mess up the comments of another federation by abusing the power of deleting comments.

Everything can be abused and will be abused.

Thank you for the response Mr. Tech. I've determined, tested, and confirmed with other users what allows a person to delete comments on their stories, and will share now since that was the root of my question here last night.

The Primary Character of an account is the one that has the power to delete comments on stories published by the characters of the account. This is unintuitive as most would think that the character who published the story would have that power. I will use my own account as an example.

[IMAGE:https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/990051671021326346/990326702615957584/unknown.png]

Madison is the Primary Character on my account. Any other characters I have on the account that publishes a story would be unable to delete the comments on that story. Madison's Profile however would be able to even if he was not a character in the story.

With this knowledge, I hope that for users on this site who are receiving harassing comments on their matches, that they will have the means of deleting them. I hope this will dissuade bullies from even bothering to engage in such juvenile antics. We are all here to have fun, harassing others is detrimental to everyone.

Good Day.

Madison, you're a genius and this was brilliant investigative work.

Unintuitive, and also functional. Thank you for posting this, it should be part of the FAQ.
