#Mars and #Venus - Phase 2

We are pleased to announce that phase 2 of the ChatFighters Planetary System has officially begun!

As part of this phase, the split that was previously in the chat will now be implemented across the main site.

Upon entering CF, you will be prompted to select between Venus and Mars. This choice will determine which version of the site you will be directed to.

Mars will only host male characters and male vs male battles. Character keywords "male/female" or "female/female" will not be able to enter Mars once the planetary restrictions are enforced. Venus is the choice for intergender communication and battles and will not allow "male/male" characters.

Your CF account and all characters attached to it will be accessible on both Mars and Venus. However, it is important to note that chat rooms, comments, and messages are separated now between the two sites. Changes made on one site will not propagate to the other site.

With this in mind, we recommend choosing one primary site for each of your characters in preparation for phase 3.
In conjunction with the phase 2 launch, most of our federations have also been assigned to either Mars or Venus. If you are a federation admin and believe your federation has been assigned to the wrong planet, please open a support case through the help center. Some general federation will continue to exist on both planets. As a federation admin, you can request the removal of one version.

As this is a cyber fight roleplaying site, you may also consider modifying or creating additional characters on either site in order to align with the planetary restrictions. This will allow you to fully participate in the content and functionality of both versions of the site.

In preparation for phase 3, we also encourage you to select your character stats as soon as possible. This will ensure that you are ready for the next phase of our change and can fully participate in the site's content and functionality.

We understand that this change may be difficult for some members of our community, and we want to assure you that it was not made lightly. We believe that this split will ultimately lead to a better experience for all of our users, and we appreciate your understanding and support as we move forward with this transition.

Thank you for your continued engagement and participation in our community.

I think this was a well implemented, smart decision. I can't tell you how many women have told me that my being gay was "too bad" and not take no for an answer, without any sense of why that might be insulting. And while I never respond impolitely to anyone, I can only image what others on the site might be saying. Additionally, I can only image the comments straight men with hot avatars are getting from gay men with bad boundaries, though straight men coming into what was original a gay space have also been overly aggressive/defensive in their comments as well. I also know that women desire safe space to be themselves too. The only down side is there is no safe space for non-binary people, but I understand limited resources makes a third plant (space) out of reach. There is already way to much drama from all folks who can say what they want and hide behind an avatar. Masks give people permission to be mean. I think this thoughtful decision will cut the drama in half. Nicely done and fingers crossed.

So we are finally in the second phase, huh?

Personally, things suddenly felt more different than before, in a good way. Especially for us (the guys who remain in the mars with M/M tags), it is so much functional and nice to feel that everyone in the "lobby" is in there with the same purpose as you: Fighting with other guys and alphas.

The only sad thing for me (as I have stated in the lobby before), is that now I cannot contact with other female friends of mine directly (Unless I create a profile for that specific reason for Venus). But I guess we will find a way to communicate eventually.

Stating that F/F tag and planet can be a thing in the future also sounds pretty bright. While many females were requesting and demanding it (including me pointing that out along with other guys), I doubt that many of us remember that we are still in the modification period. Testing this system out before diving Venus into two parts sounds like a good idea from this angle. Just letting the time do its thing...

And at the very end, I just want to thank you dear The Ref and Crew. Despite there are some critics who are being "non-constructive", you are still working on the site to make it better each and every day which is widely appreciated. Regardless of wheter we support your decisions or critize it in a healthy way, please do not forget it still means a lot for us that you are caring about this place.

You can't do this without a third planet for people who liked the old site, this seems like a change made for only one section of the community. The Venus version of this comment is filled with people saying this change is annoying to them and/or badly implemented. More importantly, this change is extraordinarily user unfriendly. It's not remotely clear what will happen with accounts that have both the male/male and the male/female tag, are bi people locked out of both planets?

Please read point 9 in the FAQ above.

That's WORSE. Do you guys not think bi people exist? We need duplicate characters now?

All for this change. There was way too many limitations and judgement with the old room. This way, everyone's wants are clear and you can be with the users that share your interests. Bravo! Colonization of Mars has begun.

I think it's a good change overall, I may not understand exactly why but at least I'll know which man will want to fight other male's instead of needing to ask and being turned down

Hey great! men and women are different.

Reality shows that gender ideology is a the great lie of our time!

The change and the Mars comment thread smacks of sexism, transphobia, and bi erasure. At the very least let us keep it so a single character can be on both planets. Isn't having tons of duplicate characters as annoying to the staff as it is to the users?

I agree completely with Evan. What is this 1950's notion of gender doing in 2023? Some folks are just going to cause drama because that's what they do and a simple bifurcation of meaningless notions of gender is not going to solve anything. Welcome to the immense diversity that exists in the world. People just need to grow the fuck up and be civil. Instead of having a page pop up to choose Mars vs Venus, you have a simple rule page pop up with lessons in civility.

1) Please read profiles before contacting another member so you can be respectful of every member's identities and interests.

Always good to have more examples of the real, hurtful motivations for this change and the real reason why Phase 3 is planned to be so aggressive in its segregation.

Hey man, this is sexual market.
Try to make the “difficult” discovery that men and women are essentially different, and that fact is fixed by nature.
Do not victimize anymore.
It is ridiculous

One sure fix: Everyone hang out at Venus
